Brake light bulb (out) indicator on dash, 86.5 car, won't go out

Ok I have 3 new & proper brake light bulbs out, & even disconnected my battery for a spell, but the Brake light indicator light is still on (dash). Any thoughts?? Yes, my switch at the brake pedal is connected: this car has 17k unmolested miles on it. Thanks, Mark
