87 s 4 timing belt adjustment winter project

i want to recheck the timing belt tention belt has 1500 miles bought one of the belt spring tools
when i slide on the belt how far do it turn it up ward to check the window .
Anyone have a better picture of this, or does the tool have to just touch the front of the block
