What do you mean by "Factory Paint"

There are a lot of paint makers, brands and types out there and matching to color codes is simple. Matching to samples is hit-or-miss in my experience. Considering the cars may be 25 years old, would you even want the same paint? Anyone know what company made the original paint and what type it was? Additives?
