Song in My Head

There was a song from the early 80's I used to hear all the time. Could be Yes, Jon Anderson, Kansas, etc. The only portion of the lyrics that pound through my head is a line that goes ".... headed out on the stage... you hear the audience applaud as the music starts to play...." That's all I have
