SGT Marion Ross

Sir,
Does anyone remember my realitive who served as a left waist gunner in the 758th Bomber Squadron, 457th Bomber Group? He was from Jackson, Ohio. His plane went down on the 4th mission for Augsburg. His remains were never found. There were three survivors on his B-17, 2 who were captured as prisoners of war and one who evaded capture. His name is placed on the tablets of missing at Luxembourg Cemetery.

His plane 42-31517 went down on the 4th mission for Augsburg over France. The pilot was KIA, his name was Lt. Chinn. SGT Marrion Ross' remains were never found. There were three survivors on his B-17, 2 who were captured as prisoners of war, Lt. McNichol the Navigator and SGT Peragine the Aircraft Engineer, and one who evaded capture, Lt. Vollmouth the Bombardier. SGT Marrion Ross name is placed on the tablets of missing at Luxembourg Cemetery.

My uncle,William Sullivan Jr, was the right tail gunner on the ill fated Mission #4. I am sure that my Uncle Willy, whom I was named after, was a close buddy of Marrion.
Thank you for your reference to Luxembourg Cemetery. I will pay a visit on my pilgramage to Lourdes in 2005. I will sat a prayer for Marrion along with my forever young 24 year old Uncle Willy.
