I would suggest that a realy first class place to obtain the information you are seeking on the Norden Bombsight is:-
The Legendary Norden Bombsight
Albert L. Pardini
Schiffer (1999)
It is a Hardback encyclopedia almost, on that piece of equipment. Should be available through a library.
All of the B-17's of the 457th that were able to cross back over the Atlantic to the USA were flown home by operational crews. All of the aircraft went into storage then into mass storage and in due time were scrapped, a sad but true story.
