Fortunately all those things are optional - you can use them or not as befits your lifestyle or your personal preference.
Have a cell phone, know how to turn it off or put it on silent. I can ignore it, too. The only thing that bugs me is when I'm upstairs and I've left it downstairs and don't hear it because that means someone's been sent to voicemail again. If I'm with someone, I'll normally let the call go to voicemail unless it's a call that I really, really, REALLY need to answer.
I'm on Facebook, with a small group of out-of-the-area friends that I like to stay in touch with. As with anything else, you have to read its terms to see what it will do with your information, and how to opt out of those things.
Texting? You betcha. It's quick, keeps me from having to make a long deal out of something that only requires a few words.
Now, that said, I don't use the above for people with whom I'd like to spend some time talking, or for subjects that need extended discussion. I use the phone for that. Or email if it's hard to find a time that's mutually available.
Twitter? Nah. Not interested. I don't particularly have to know anyone's minute-by-minute updates of what they're having for breakfast or what random thought has just passed through their head.
Oh, and I'm 57 in a few days. Not 'zactly a cute young thing any more.
