Bill, I just helped train the guys for Helo assault, it was almost two years after I got out that the 7th Cav joined up with the 1st Cav and went over to Vietnam. If you ever saw the movie, "We Were Soldiers", that's the outfit I helped train. The person, Sgt Savage, he and I went thru Jump School together and trained those Troopers.
We started out training with C-7 Caribou's but they were too much of a target and needed allot of ground to take off so they switched to helo's to use as our "horses". What gets me mad is that the 7th Cav. did all the training and fine tuning the assault program and the 1st Cav took all the credit.
